RCB won by 10 wickets

The bowlers of Royal Challengers seals win over Delhi Daredevils

Royal Challengers Bangalore clinch third win of IPL8 after excellent display from Mitchell Starc and Varun Aaron. It was pretty much a pace-affair that changed the facet of play for the Daredevils. Earlier, after winning the toss RCB's skipper Virat Kohli decided to field first.

Delhi's batting attack was derailed early and it never got a chance to recover. Bangalore kept piling pressure on the batsmen by taking wickets at regular intervals. RCB strangled DD to just 95 and then took off the target in a hurry, getting there with 57 balls to spare and for the loss of none. Mitchell Starc, yet again took 3 wickets. Off the first over, the left-armer Starc deceived Shreys Iyer who was the star of the previous game. Varun Aaron and David Wiese grabbed 2 wickets apiece. Varun Aaron took two of the biggest wickets by dismissing Yuvraj Singh and Angelo Mathews in one over. The bowlers of RCB have snared all the wickets to trump JP Duminy's Delhi Daredevils and the former helped their team to register its third win to rest on the fourth position on the points table with 2 extra points and improved NRR.

Delhi's struggles were underlined by the fact that Kedar Jadhav's 33 was their top score while captain JP Duminy's 13 and opener Mayank Aggarwal's 27 to be the only other batsmen who scored in double-digits.

Bangalore's Captain Virat Kohli and the big man Chris Gayle then brought the crowd to life by hitting fours and sixes to chase down the modest run score. Gayle was quicker off the balls this time, hitting six fours and four sixes and scored a half century with his 40-ball-62. His partner Virat Kohli scored 35 of just 23 that includes six fours and no sixes.

Ironically, all the bowlers from RCB had economy rate below 6 except one but all the bowlers of  Daredevils had economy rate above 6 except one.

In the after-match presentation, Daredevils' skipper JP Duminy explained what went wrong from their side
"We were outplayed in every department. Lot of lessons to be learnt out of the game. They took wickets at regular intervals and we could not build a partnership. We have a few days off and we need to regroup and pick it up again", Duminy said.

Varun Aaron won the Man of the Match award from his tremendous pace attack.
"It really came together today. I was bowling well in patches before. We have been planning to get wickets early. That happened today. The body has been good after surgery. I tried to bowl faster and it came out well"
